Triple H Era Has Begun!!!
WrestleMania 40 marks the beginning of a new Era in Professional Wrestling... the Triple H Era! In one weekend the WWE Universe experienced things and feelings it hasn't experienced in years, if not decades. Sitting lone at the Gorilla Seat for now and for the foreseeable future is Paul "Triple H" Levesque.
The new Era started Saturday with a bang as new champions were crowned, Sami Zayn ended Gunther's 666 day streak of owning the Intercontinental Championship. While Grayson Waller and Austin Theory snagged the Smackdown Tag Titles and the Awesome Truth first pinned for the Raw Tag Championships then climbed the ladder and grabbed the titles. Saturday also saw the Bloodline establish dominance as the team of Roman Reigns and The Rock defeated Cody Rhodes and Seth Freakin' Rollins.
Sunday's card took things to an entirely new level. First, we witnessed the return of Stephanie McMahon! She clearly made her peace with her father's legal situations and proudly stated where her allegiance lies. WELCOME BACK! YOU'VE BEEN MISSED BY ALL.
Seth Freakin' Rollins may have lost his World Heavyweight Championship, but the beating he took over two days earned the entire world's respect.
McIntyre's victory and championship was short-lived. As the Scottish Warrior wouldn't leave good enough alone and had his legs swiped by an injured CM Punk. This opened the door for Damian Priest. A purple flash and his theme music hit as the Judgement Day member ran to the ring and cashed in his Money in the Bank.
If you can smile during a match and enjoy the story that says something. When Bubba Ray Dudley, Bobby Lashley and The Street Profits are all told by the entire WWE Universe to get the Tables, then go get the tables!
The Universe also made it clear who they wanted as their Smackdown Women's Champion - "Heyyyy, heya Bayley, OOH-AHH, I want to know-oh-oh if you'll be my girl..." the ENTIRE MATCH until she defeated former stable partner Iyo Sky.
And, in the Main Event, his story completed. Cody Rhodes defeated Roman Reigns, ending Romans reign as WWE Universal Champion. In a Bloodline Rules Match, Jimmy Uso interfered, only to be stopped by brother Jey. Then Solo Sokoa assisted the Tribal Chief. Because of that, we all saw him, JOHN CENA returned to the squared-circle to eliminate the younger Uso. This, then, brought out the Final Boss, The People's Champion, The Rock. Rock Bottomed Cena and restacked the deck in favor of the Bloodline. Shield's music cracked through the speakers. Out comes Seth Freakin Rollins in original Shield gear. Roman superman punched the original defector. GONG. Blackness. GONG. Lights. The Undertaker made his way to Wrestlemania 40!!! The Deadman sent Rock packing with a chokeslam before disappearing just as quickly as he entered. This left Cody and Roman one on one again. A chair shot to Rollins one more time by Reigns gave Cody the window he needed and delivered three Cross-Rhodes to the champion. 1-2-3 and for the first time in over 4 years we have a new WWE Universal Champion to kick off the Triple H Era.

Cody Chooses Roman | Rock Joins Bloodline
SHOCKED! Rock Shows Up on Smackdown
To close out the Smackdown after Rumble, the Head of the Table cut a helluva promo stating why he truly the one and only real champion. Cody Rhodes music hit and he entered the ring. Before the average fan could realize what is happening, Cody said he's not next in line, but this guy is... The Rock's music hit. Birmingham, AL went about nuts. The Great One entered the ring, shook hands with the American Nightmare and then Cody exited stage left. Smackdown cut as Rock and Roman stared eye to eye.
Cody to Finish the Story... at Mania vs Roman
Officially during the post match press conference, Cody Rhodes made it clear, he will challenge Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania 40 for the Universal Championship. "If you saw Wrestlemania 39, you know my choice," said Rhodes.

- Fired 3 board members - Brought back 3 "new" board members - WWE Stock rose 17% today - Said no changes would be made to creative Let the speculations begin! |
Charlotte Surprise Return ~ Wins Championship
As a surprise to all, and with a huge pop, Charlotte Flair returned to WWE. Called out Smackdown Women's Champion Rhonda Rousey. Challenged her immediately (after Rousey just defeated Raquel Rodriguez). And reversed the armbar Rousey placed on Flair to a rollup pin. Charlotte enters 2023 as the Smackdown Women's Champion.
WWE Heading Back to TV-14
Ziggler is Back!
His handle might be @HeelZiggler but face Dolph Ziggler has returned! This is a good thing. We all know he can sell with the best of them. But in my Mount Rushmore (will need about 7 face spots), he's on there. Still to learn his intentions and what happened with the Dirty Dawgz, Dolph Ziggler returned to Raw assisting Riddle and Bobby Lashley with their victory. Then immediately afterwards, super-kicking Theory to close out the
|
show. Anyone who can remember the 2014 Survivor Series, knows that Dolph can main event anything. It will be interesting to see what and who they have planned for SummerSlam, if any, since Theory is in an angle with Lashley and Seth "Freakin' " Rollins will face Riddle. Regardless, Ziggler is back (even though we saw him just a few weeks ago interrupt Omos' exit, but we should forget that!) and that is a great thing for WWE fans!
Everyone Hates Theory
Six year olds. College-aged students. Adults. All equally hate Theory. Which makes him perfect. To play a villain where there is nothing to cheer about or like from any point of view is rare air. Eventually, he will turn face and will become a mega-superstar. Until then, Mr. McMahon's hand-pick future is Mr. Money in the Bank and as much as the rest of the WWE Universe hates him, he's going to be perfect for the top heel on Raw carrying the briefcase for the next few months!

Crowd in Full Support of Becky Lynch
Some superstars just can't be a heel, simply because the crowd won't let them. Look no further than John Cena. Much less other icons like the Rock. There are others. But after last night's Raw, there is a new member - Becky Lynch! Lynch's character is classified as a heel. Her struggle and frustrations in winning back the Raw Women's Championship have left her battled, bruised and beaten. The crowd has seen this struggle and yet in the short time since Wrestlemania has given their support more and more to her every week.
Raw's go home show before Money in the Bank may have been the exact changing moment. The first of the Elimination Match to enter, Lynch received a huge pop. Then, when pinning Doudrop for the final spot in the Money in the Bank qualifier, the crowd fully exploded in support of Becky. After Raw went off air, internet shared her addressing the crowd as well.

A+ for Battle Royal Qualifier
1) I'm a sucker for Battle Royals.
2) Throw in superstars like Dolph Ziggler, The Miz, AJ Styles and Ricochet and you're destined to have a great match. 3) Give it 25 minutes to develop a storyline. WWE did just that. All of the above mentioned superstars contributed heavily throughout the match, with Ricochet receiving the spot of the night. In the end, WWE did right by having Riddle survive and qualify for the Money in the Bank ladder match. |
Sheamus Turns Face, If Only for a Night
In the main event of Smackdown this week, Drew McIntyre was forced to team up with his former qualifying opponent for the Money in the Bank ladder match, Sheamus. The two took on The Usos. If Sheamus and Drew won, they then officially qualify for the Money in the Bank ladder match.
Anyone who follows the superstars on their personal side know that not only do Sheamus and Drew McIntyre both live in Nashville and support all pro-sports in Nashville, but are real-life 'friends'. Which, makes for excellent in-ring chemistry. Both as partners and as opponents. In an excellent conclusion to the show (that did not even feature Roman Reigns nor Brock Lesnar) Drew McIntyre gave Jimmy Uso a claymore kick to secure the victory.
Afterwards, the two now qualifiers, stood face-to-face... but this rivalry quickly turned to celebrations. As both Drew McIntyre and Sheamus received a huge ovation from the electric crowd. By no means was this a Klick-like celebration, but it did cross a kayfabe storyline as the two are headed adversaries. Which, to people like me, loved the crossover. If even for just a night.

Viking Raiders Return with more Viking-like Attitudes!
Elias is Why Wrestling is Awesome!I have one question for you... who wants to WALK WITH ELIAS? Be honest, you missed that. I never realized how awesome Elias is/was. June 20ths Raw reminded us how nostalgic and awesome Elias is. And his segment with his older brother Ezekiel proved why wrestling is awesome!
