NXT LOSES MORE THAN JUST THE RATINGS WAR
by Tantor September 4, 2021
The news coming out of WWE headquarters has forced Tantor to break out the written word. Let’s have a professional wrestling recap. AEW beat NXT in the Wednesday night ratings war. NXT moved to Tuesday nights and released over a dozen wrestlers from their roster. Superstar talent Adam Cole’s contract has expired and is a free agent.
This is directly from Wrestling Observer Live’s Bryan Alvarez. NXT, like RAW and Smackdown will become a Vince McMahon/Bruce Prichard produced show when it returns airing live on September 14. What a giant disappointment. Does the professional wrestling fandom need another RAW? Hell No! RAW is practically unwatchable. We have seen what McMahon/Prichard do to NXT superstars Alistair Black, Andrade, Keith Lee and Karrion Kross. None are successful at RAW. Instead of taking what works at NXT and transferring it to RAW or Smackdown, McMahon/Prichard reinvent the characters into basically a jobber for McMahon’s flavor of the day.
Tantor preferred NXT over AEW. The ratings war was not a horrible disaster. NXT had a great product that was getting better each show. It’s a shame that HHH gets stuck with the loss and has the creative oversight pulled from him. It looks like NXT will evolve into dumb gimmicks and skits by 300lb monsters with little in-ring work. I thought that was what Main Event and dark matches were accomplishing. Goodbye to the Johnny Garganos, Tommaso Ciampas and Pete Dunnes of the wrestling world. Good thing there is another company out there with a better product than RAW.
