26-0. Sounds like a football score. Nope, its baseball. Its Coastal Carolina baseball. The Chanticleers bats exploded early and often as the clearly more dominant team gave the fans of Spring-Brooks Stadium something to feel good about to start the 2024 season. Potential All-American Catcher, Cade Bodine went 3/4 went 2 doubles, driving in 3 runs and scoring 3 times himself. Not to be outdone, 1B Zach Beach went yard going 2/3 in his at bats, while DH Derek Bender also got to touch all the bases in one trot on his grand slam. Jake Brooks also hit a grand slam for the Chanticleers.

Indiana's arms combined to allow just 6 hits, striking out 10 batters in the Hoosier's 7-2 win on Saturday. Graham Brown did double in a run and scored himself to lead the batting highlights for the Chanticleers.
Blue Devils Limit Chants to 5 Hits in Return Victory

Duke 5; Coastal Carolina 3

In a return match from last year's Regional Championship game, the Duke Blue Devils edged out Coastal Carolina back in the exact location they eliminated the Chants a year earlier. Coastal batters were held to just 5 hits and struck out 12 times. Coastal pitching did strike out 8, led by RP Trevor Hinkle with 4 Ks. In the end, Duke's defense was just stronger than Coastal Carolina's offense.
Beach, Pitching Lead Coastal Past Wilmington

After a slow start, Coastal's bats woke up in the middle innings as the Chanticleers went back to the winning ways for the mid-week matchup with UNC Wilmington. 1B Zach Beach was perfect at the plate going 3 of 3 with a double while scoring twice. Pitching combined for 15 Ks, with Dominick Carbone going 3.0 strong and not allowing a hit, picking up the Win. Cameron Flukey was solid in Hold duties, striking out 6 of the 7 batters he faced.

On a rainy day in Conway, Coastal Carolina put a 10 spot to take the lead and not look back from Illinois in this weekend's round-robin series. The Friday game saw its delays because of the weather and its fair share of highlights. The Chanticleers reeled off 14 hits and 2 Home Runs by Zach Beach and Jake Brooks. Brooks batted a perfect 4 for 4, including 4 RBIs. Furthermore, 5 different batters had a multi-hit game.

As part of the ground rules for some of these weekend round-robin series, this game was previously agreed up to only go 7 innings, rather than the regulation 9 innings. And that's what SP Alexander Meckley did, went 7 strong. The Chants hurler allowed just 3 hits out of the 24 batters faced while striking out 8. Cade Bodine and Zack Beach each went yard to help the offense manufacture 12 runs.
Bad Pitching And Long Ball Lead to Coastal Blow Out Over Bearcats

If Coastal Carolina's bats weren't enough, Cincinnati's pitching staff helped secure the Chanticleer blowout victory. The Bearcats pegged 8 different Coastal Carolina batsmen in the 25-2 victory. Offense did not need much help as four different batters all left the ballpark in the first inning alone; Sam Antonacci, Zack Beach, Graham Brown and Jake Books each launched one out of Spring-Brooks Stadium. Additionally 10 different Coastal batters drew a walk while Gilly went deep in the bench, allowing 16 different Chanticleers to have at least 1 plate appearance.

This victory could be bigger as the season progresses. Both Campbell and Coastal Carolina are expected to make the CWS Tournament and possibly advance deep. A mid-week victory by the Chants could help their RPI later in the year. Seven of the 9 batters recorded a hit for Coastal Carolina as early season MVP candidate, Zack Beach went yard for the 4th time this season. Coastal pitching struckout 8 and only allowed 6 hits. Josh O'Neill picked up the Win.
